IUS ‘s design with MIT for a Future Energy Campus in Japan has been shortlisted for an award in the Internal Future Place category. IUS will participate in the the rescheduled WEX Global 2020 conference in Valencia, Spain. Iain Macdonald will speak about the work of IUS.

IUS in conjunction with NSE @ MIT is undertaking research into the aesthetic form, material construction and spatial design of mobile quantum batteries. Each battery is capable of providing up to 10 MW of decarbonized electrical power to a variety of uses ranging from vertical farming to edge computing.

The Principal Investigator of IUS, Iain Macdonald, will be giving an online (Zoom) talk entitled ‘Co-existence with Machines’ – Digital Urban Design as part of the Architecture Foundation’s programme (www.architecturefoundation.org.uk) The 100 Day Studio on Tuesday 19th May at 17:00 in the UK.

The Principal Investigator of IUS, Iain Macdonald, is providing architectural and advanced industries consultancy to an architect-led consortium taking part in an invited competition to prepare a masterplan, vision and circular economy design strategies for two inner city districts from 2020 to 2050.

Iain Macdonald will visit Seoul to initiate IUS providing consultancy to a design consortium for a hyperscale technology project in Korea.
